Well it’s almost on us now…..most of the preparation and planning is complete for Ferry Fair 2018, the 82nd Fair in its present form, which starts with the Adult 5-a-side football on Sunday 5 August, from 11am at the Queensferry Sports and Community Hub and continues through the week till the final day with the crowning of Queen-Elect Carly Mack by Gracious Lady Janis Cummings on Saturday 11 August at 12 noon. Note that the 5-a-side football for Juniors has moved to the Hub as well and the competition will be played to a conclusion on the Monday evening.
Our programme for the Fair is available from various local outlets, it’s great value for money with the price held at only £3.00 and it’s full of all the information you need about the Fair and all that’s on offer for your entertainment during Fair week. Last year we brought back some old favourites including the Tug of War and the Wheelbarrow Race: we’re pleased to say these proved very popular and will return this year.
Also on sale at local outlets are tickets for our Grand Raffle which offers a fantastic star prize of an overnight stay for 2 people at the luxurious and exclusive Boathouse on Dundas Estate (courtesy of Sir Jack Stewart-Clark) with a Champagne Dinner for 2 at the award-winning Boathouse Restaurant (courtesy of Paul Steward) with local transport provided (courtesy of Eddie Marshall of Marshall’s Private Hire). Programmes and raffle tickets will be on sale at the booth in the High Street car park on Ferry Fair Friday and Saturday.
Finally I would like to say how grateful we are for the terrific support we get from the community of Queensferry: without that support the Fair simply wouldn’t happen.
Have a great Ferry Fair!
